  70. 3-How to install Steam Properties?
  71.  
  72. Steam Properties is a Windows program. In order to install the program:
  73.  
  74. 1) Copy all the files mentioned above to a suitable directory
  75. 2) In Windows choose: File, New and then select "steampro.exe"
  76.  
  77. If you wish to test the program in diskette directly without installation, 
  78. the diskette should not be write protected. Steam Properties saves the 
  79. latest changes to input fields and default units and whenever you start 
  80. you can begin where you finished last time.

  83. 4-How to install DLL version of Steam Properties? 
  84.   (registered version only!)
  85.  
  86. DLL version of Steam Properties is a Windows program. In order to install
  87. the program:
  88.  
  89. 1) Copy all the files mentioned above to a suitable directory.
  90.    This step is not necessary if you have already installed steam 
  91.    properties.
  92. 2) In Windows choose: File, New and then select "dllsetup.exe"
  93. 3) Define the complete path of DLL version in your "AUTOEXEC.BAT"
  94.    i.e. if you have copied Steam Properties on your C drive in a 
  95.    subdirectory called \MYDATA\STEAM12 you should add this line
  96.    
  97.    SET STEAMPRO=C:\MYDATA\STEAM12
  98.  
  99.    into your AUTOEXEC.BAT file.
  100.  
  101. After next reboot of your system DLL version is properly installed and 
  102. you can run "dllsetup.exe" to choose your favorite units for inputs and
  103. outputs.
  104. If you wish to test the program in diskette directly without installation, 
  105. the diskette should not be write protected. DLL setup saves the 
  106. latest changes to the default units.

  108. Attention! DLL version needs that the following files exist in the same
  109. directory:
  110.            DEFAULT.CFG
  111.            STEAMP.DAT
  112.            STEAMPT.DAT
  113.            STEAMT.DAT
  114.            STEAM.DLL

  117. Now DLL version can be used in your application. All major spreadsheet and
  118. database programs support integration of functions defined in DLLs. 
  119. The user manual of your spreadsheet or database program describes if you can
  120. use DLLs and how you "register functions" and call them. The functions 
  121. inside the DLL are following:

  149. 5-How to call functions inside DLL version of Steam Properties from 
  150.   MS EXCEL?
  151.  
  152. Functions inside a DLL can be made accessible by using "register" function
  153. in MS EXCEL. For example if you need to calculate the specific enthalpy of 
  154. steam and you know the absolute pressure and temperature you should use 
  155. STMPTH which needs two inputs (P,T) and has one output i.e. h.
  156. You assign a cell e.g. A1 this value:

  170.  EBB        (specifies that the function needs two input of double type and)

  174.  EBB!       (works in the same way as EBB except that each time you change) 
  175.             (the inputs to the function MS EXCEL automatically updates the)

  179. You will register each function only once, but you can call it as many times 
  180. as you wish. Here is an example on how you use "CALL":

  187.  20  is the first input; in this case pressure
  188.  100 is the second input; in this case temperature

  190. Input and output parameters will be in default units. The default units can
  191. be selected by running "dllsetup.exe".

  340. Air and Exhaust Gas properties: This program which is similar to Steam
  341. properties can be used for analyzing components such as gas turbines,
  342. compressors and combustion chambers. The accompanied help file 
  343. "Thermodynamics online help" will also be extended to cover these 
  344. components.
